Love Arts Leeds is a celebration of creativity and mental well-being which takes place every October in Leeds. The festival aims to get people talking about mental health by sharing creativity. We feature exhibitions, gigs, performances, workshops, talks, debates, discussions and more. The festival is run by the Arts & Minds team.
Check out the Love Arts website for details of the most recent festival.
“Being agorophobic, highly panicky, and prone to long bouts of dark depression, being involved with this has helped me to become more confident within my artwork and my self to become more active within events like Love Arts Festival. Things seem less lonely and dark with this wonderful service around me.”
BEYOND is a brand new festival for Leeds that occurred in June 2016; the plan is for the event to be bi-annual. The festival celebrates the work of artists, performers and musicians with learning disabilities from Leeds, and the many organisations which support them. BEYOND also includes a strand of exemplary work from across Europe by artists with learning disabilities.
There are hundreds of talented artists with learning disabilities in Leeds, producing a fantastic range of art. Leeds is also home to many organisations focussed on supporting artists and/or people with learning disabilities in exploring and developing their creativity, and an associated group of talented individual freelancers who lead that work.
